Some samples of Ceramics Club members' work
The Seven Oaks Ceramics Club is a friendly group of ceramics enthusiasts at all skill levels. Some of us have years of experience and many of us are complete newcomers to working with clay. We are learning together, having fun and making new friends.
Our well-equipped studio is open daily during Seven Oaks clubhouse hours, so you can enjoy time in the studio whenever it fits your schedule. We also have studio sessions where more experienced members are on hand to assist less-experienced members. Periodically, we offer classes taught by our more advanced members. When you join, you’ll receive regular updates about studio sessions, lessons and other club events.
Studio:
Our studio is stocked with the tools and supplies you need to get started on your first—or your next—ceramics project. We operate three kilns for mid-firing and low-firing finished pieces and have a potter’s wheel.
The club stocks mid-fire clay and low-fire clay slip, all of which it sells to members at cost. We also have a large selection of underglazes, glazes and paints that members use for free.
We work with different types of clay in a number of ways. We handbuild pottery, create sculpture, and throw pots on the wheel. We also create molded projects by pouring clay slip in a variety of molds owned by the club. In addition, we have a member experienced in glass bottle slumping who is available to teach others this craft.
The club also has a slab roller, clay extruders, assorted tools, brushes and other supplies that are available for use at the studio. Most members also opt to buy a selection of tools and brushes for their personal use.
Membership Details:The Ceramics Club holds formal club meetings twice a year, in May and November.. Semi-annual dues of $30 are collected at these luncheon meetings. Dues cover the cost of many of our supplies.
