as volunteers. These are not paid positions. The Board of Directors has made a commitment of their time,

Richard Braun - President
Dick served
as treasurer and president of past Seven Oaks Boards and was treasurer before being elected president of the 2011 board. He
has also served as architectural liaison. Dick received his BS degree from Roosevelt University in Chicago with a major in
accounting. He was president of a construction and land development company and obtained his California real estate broker’s
license. He has been an active in religious and civic groups and has lived in Seven Oaks for 12 years. _______________________________________________________________________
Clarence Earl Chinn, CDR USN, Ret. - Vice President Brought to San Diego by the US Navy, Earl has lived
in the RB/Poway area since 1968 and in Seven Oaks since 2002. Following retirement from the navy, he was the San Diego District
manager for H&R Block for six years and has been a professional speaker and teacher for more than 20 years. He has served
on boards of the RB Chorale, Poway Center for the Performing Arts, Toastmasters International, American Cancer Society, and
NSA San Diego. His goals are to provide open lines of communication for all Seven Oaks residents and to represent them fairly
in efforts to maintain the quality of life currently enjoyed in our community. ______________________________________________________________

Elaine Jeter - Secretary
Elaine served on the staffs of university and medical school libraries, primarily doing bibliographic work. She has
more than 18 years’ experience on boards of nonprofit public benefit corporations and property owners’ associations
and she is familiar with the California non-profit code. She is proud to have qualified for “master gardener”
certification. Elaine believes in working for the benefit of homeowners within the CC&Rs, by-laws and city and county
codes. She feels that boards should not be overly intrusive and all board actions should be open to the membership as required
by California law. When disputes occur, there should be an avenue available for help in resolving differences. ______________________________________________________________________________________
James Schwartz - Treasurer/Chief Financial Officer
Jim is a new member
of Seven Oaks, having moved from Oregon to be 12 minutes away from his grandchild. He retired from teaching math and science
to middle school students, and then as a mentor in the teacher education program at the University of Oregon. Jim has been
active in property management. Other interests include Scouting, Rotary Club, and church, where he leads a senior volunteer
group that helps with maintenance of the facilities. ________________________________________________________________________
Dan Harmer - Liaison
to Architectural Committee -
Dan is a native San Diegan
and a seven-year resident of Seven Oaks. His career included banking, sales, and 35 years as a business owner. He has been
on the boards of several homeowners associations, museums, and clubs. He served in the U.S. Army and now provides a service
to residents to pick up their worn out flags. He worked with the city to obtain three intersection wheel chair ramps and speed
bumps in Seven Oaks. _________________________________________________________________________________
Joe Carduan - Liaison to Architectural Committee Joe spent most of his life in San Diego and was graduated
from Kearney High School. He worked at UCSD and eventually became a journeyman machinist. In Point Loma he worked on the Scripps
fleet of ships and traveled the Pacific Ocean coast to work on the ships at sea. Joe retired in 2006 and moved to Seven Oaks
in 2007. He enjoys his large back yard and spending time with his extended family. _______________________________________________________________________________
Valerie Schmitt - Liaison
to Activities Committee Valerie is a 30-year resident of Rancho Bernardo and a five-year resident of Seven Oaks. Her career includes working
as a speech therapist, working in the accounting office at Casa de las Campanas, and running the docent program at the San
Diego Museum of Natural History in Balboa Park. She has worked in real estate for the past 12 years and volunteers with the
AAUW and the RB Historical Society.
